With its rich literary tradition, New Orleans is the perfect place to study the printed (and the digital) word.

The award-winning English department at Loyola University New Orleans offers a dynamic program with exceptionally accomplished faculty who work closely with students on independent studies, collaborative research, publishing, capstone experiences, and creative projects.

 

Undergraduate Degree Programs

Bachelor of Arts in English

Loyola's Department of English offers a diverse curriculum in literature, critical theory, film studies, creative writing, nonfiction and professional writing, digital media, editing and publishing, and rhetoric. Students receive a strong foundation in classic and modern works, with writing skills emphasized in every course.

Minors

Minor in English

Students interested in the English minor have the option of selecting either the English minor or the English writing minor. The English Department also participates in several interdisciplinary minors.
